Activities

8 players playing 5 rounds of golf as follows:

Dromoland Castle - Winding across the massive Dromoland Castle estate, our magnificent championship course plays over 6,824 yards, offering exhilarating challenges to golfers of every level. Gently rolling hills, ancient trees, and deceptively winsome wildflower meadows conspire to conceal unexpected hazards, then open up in a blaze of glory to reveal breathtaking vistas of the Castle towers and County Clare’s untamed landscapes in the distance.

Adare Manor - Our 18-hole parkland golf course is steeped in history and is recognised as one of the best hidden gems on the island of Ireland. The Desmond Castle (1200 AD) is a magnificent backdrop to the 1st and 15th greens, while the ruins of the Franciscan Abbey (1464 AD) dominate the centre of the course. Visitors are welcome and will find the tree-lined fairways a serious golfing challenge.

Shannon Golf Club - In the early 1960’s Dr. William Flynn started a campaign to establish a Golf Club in Shannon utilizing his network of contacts in the Shannon Free Zone. On the 9th of November 1965, Shannon GC was established, land was acquired from Shannon Airport and in May 1966 practice golf began and the first competition, The Thomond Cup, took place in August. Shannon GC hosted a very popular Pro-Am in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s where renowned future major winning professionals such as Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and Sandy Lyle played, to name a few. The Pro-am continues today and is named in Dr William Flynn’s honour.

Ballybunion - Founded in 1893, Ballybunion remained an unknown treasure until the late 1960s. That’s the essence of Ballybunion. It is elemental, natural golf amid dunes beside the ocean where all of the battles are God-made challenges with nature. In 1969, Pat Ward-Thomas visited the course and wrote: “Ballybunion possesses excitement and challenge that can have few peers in all the world of seaside golf.” By the mid-1970s, there was a growing trickle of well-read international visitors that overnight turned into a flood in 1982 when Tom Watson made his famous off-the-cuff eulogy after accepting the Claret Jug at Royal Troon: “Nobody can call himself a golfer until he has played at Ballybunion; you would think the game originated there!”

Lahinch GC - The St Andrews of Ireland. From 1892, the Club has stood out on its own merits as a golfing institution like none other. Lahinch Golf Club is renowned for the way the links has retained all of its old virtues and is now regarded as one of the best and most enjoyable challenges to be found anywhere in the golfing world. The legendary Old Tom Morris set the highest standards for the course from the outset. Lahinch is a key destination on the Wild Atlantic Way, on the edge of the Burren National Park (UNESCO recognised Global and European Geopark) and only 10km from one of the world’s great natural wonders, the Cliffs of Moher.

Tralee - Situated on the rugged SW Atlantic coast of Ireland, the links features towering dunes, undulating fairways, punishing rough and cliff top tees and greens. Designed and built by Arnold Palmer, this stunning setting represents a true paradise for those willing to challenge what is widely acclaimed as one of the finest links courses in the world. Instituted October 1, 1896, Tralee Golf Club opened its present Arnold Palmer-designed course for play at Barrow in October, 1984, after moving from its nine-hole course at Mounthawk near Tralee. It was a great achievement for the Club and helped the Club attain world-wide status. Back in 1896, the Club had its first nine-hole course in Tralee and a year later it opened a nine-hole course in Fenit on the south-western side of Barrow Harbour.

Doonbeg - As early as 1892, officers of the Scottish Black Watch Regiment considered Doonbeg an ideal setting for links golf. In the early 1990s, the Doonbeg Community Development Company began promoting the concept of a golf course at Doonbeg. Doonbeg Golf Club Ltd. acquired the options from Shannon Development and closed the sale in December 1999. Construction of the golf course commenced in December 1999. The course opened on July 9, 2002, when Greg Norman defeated Irish Ryder Cup star Padraig Harrington by 2 to 1 in an exhibition match. In February 2014, the course was purchased by The Trump Organization and has since been renamed to Trump International Golf Links Ireland. Since then Trump Ireland has been transformed by Dr. Hawtree to one of the 'must play' golf courses on the international circuit.
